Our Annual Christmas Party with the Wood Turner's will be on December 11, 2012 starting at 5:30 pm (eat at 6) at the Presbyterian Church (6500 Overland Road) under the pedestrian SkyBridge.
If your last name begins with:
A through M -- Bring Dessert
N through Z -- Bring Side Dish
Meat, beverages and eating utensils will be provided.
Don't forget to bring a handmade gift for the gift exchange!

Our Shriner's Toy Pickup is Scheduled for February 2013
So keep building those cars, boats, planes, etc.

the 2011 Toy Pickup:
"On January 11, before the stated meeting. Ron Lester and I met with Michael Kingsley with the Ada Woodworking Club. They presented us with 641 wooden toys for the children at the Portland and Salt Lake hospitals. I am sure their donation will bring smiles to many children’s faces."

Annual "Best of the Year" Contest

Please bring your "Best of the Year" Project for judging!
Ribbons, cookies and drinks will be handed out.
Also, a big thanks to the Work Sharp people in Ashland, Oregon for allowing us to test their products. Be sure to bring some dull tools to the next meeting, so you can try it out. I've just been informed we will have the belt sharpening system available to try out, as well as the standard and the wood turning system for the Work Sharp. Remember, if you like it, Buy It! Monte has some in stock and may even have a promotion for you!
 

Club Picnic Set for August 11, 2012:
The annual picnic with the wood turners and wood workers will be held at 5:00 on the 11th of August at Ron Lee’s Home (660 S. Five Mile). Members with last names beginning A thru L are to bring a salad, and M thru Z to bring a dessert. Please bring your own chairs. Goodwood pulled pork and buns will be the main dish and the club will provide soft drinks, water and table service.

2012 Idaho Artistry in Wood Show

The 2012 Idaho Artistry in Wood Show will be held Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26 at the Boise Hotel and Conference Center, 3300 Vista Ave., Boise, Idaho with support from Woodcraft. Competitors from all skill levels, Beginner – Expert, are invited to submit their entries for display and judging. For the first time this year cash prizes will be awarded. The show will also include vendors, a banquet and auction. The Idaho Artistry in Wood Show is one of the leading displays of wood art in the Western United States. Registration will take place on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 12-6 p.m. at the Conference center. Detailed information on the show can be obtained from the following member groups of the Idaho Artistry in Wood Association: Idaho Woodcarvers Guild, Treasure Valley Scrollers, Southwest Idaho Wood Turners Association, Ada County Woodworkers and Idaho Gourd Society.

The cost of participation in the show is $3 per entry for pieces pre-registered by February 15, 2012 and $5 for registrations at the door. Youth 16 and under may compete without cost.

Raffle and Auction pieces will be needed from the woodworkers.
