Treasurer's Report - Jack Keifer

Treasurer Jack Keifer reported the current balance in the treasury is $1032.48.

John Pickrell said his writing desk from the IAIW show last year has gone missing and wondered if anyone knew anything about it.

Ron Lee reported on toy making for the Shriners.  At the toy building session today, there were eleven members and two visitors from the Shriners.  Channel 6 news came by.  Currently there are 350 unfinished toys and there will be another build session next Tuesday.  Ron had a sheet for members interested in helping to write their name down.  The toys will be presented at the IAIW show at 2PM on Saturday, Feb. 21.

New at Woodcraft

Steve Merrill talked about the new SawStop Jobsite saw which will sell for $1299.  It comes with a built-in cart.  Some unique features are a fast blade raising and tilting mechanism, a pull-out table extension with a storage compartment underneath for a spare cartridge and tools.  The fence automatically locks square even if the back is clamped down out of square first.  There is a spot for an extra blade and it comes with a spare cartridge.  Steve noted that SawStop has made improvements based on data gathered so wet wood isn’t an issue.  The saw goes through a set of self-tests before it will run and won’t start if you are touching the blade.  Steve did the “hot dog” demo.  SawStop apparently outsells other brands of cabinet saws 10:1 now.

Steve may have been a bit nervous about the "hot dog" demo, but his hand wasn't shaking that bad.  I have some problems getting a good photo in the warehouse without the shutter speed getting kind of slow.
