| The first step was the planning process. I began by drawing actual size plans using AutoCad. The bracing pattern I chose was based on the original Martin X-brace style. Less tone bars were used because I wanted to use a jazz style bridge. I wanted the top to be as light as possible for the greatest range of vibration. The back is also traditionally braced using the Martin style. I then used a traditional 24 1/2 inch scale fretboard, with the neck attached at the 14th fret using the Cumpiano mortised tendon joint. |
