The Discovery Center is looking for tops for their gyroscope exhibit which will run for 6 months. Contact Jean Hoover 343-9855 ext. 233. She would also like to take pictures of tops for a brochure and have tops to sell in the gift shop.
The exhibits on the 4th floor of the Capitol are on a 6 month rotation. John Lee's work has been on recent display. There are future plans to also have displays in the library.
Marshall Nichols demonstrated acrylic finishes on wooden pens - durability is improved. He uses the medium think. Marshall has really worked this out in detail, sanding to 300 to 420 grit, cleaning with alcohol, applying CS medium while turning the lathe by hand, etc. Numerous coats like 6 - 8 and fishing off with automotive polish.
