SERENE LIFE OF MICROBES
Richard Bone
For
two decades at Backroads Music, Richard Bone has been referred to as
"the artists who can do no wrong". Through a variety of styles and
chance inspirations, Richard has gone off in several directions, though
generally only one at a time. Well, we're happy to report he was 'workin' in the lab late last night...' and has brewed up a worthy successor to "Ether Dome" and "The Spectral Ships" that takes those ideas to places only he could find. "Serene Life of Microbes" is full of superb analogue electronic music that cleverly manages to be gentle,
dark, beautiful and strange. It is a masterful ambient work that stirs
up deep echoes of atmospheric space music from a bygone age. And yet "Serene Life of Microbes" also manages to convey a strong contemporary mood that drifts in and out of a sublime beauty that is
never less than utterly compelling. As his debut on the excellent
ADMusic label, it is safe to say Richard's esteemed reputation is
completely intact, if not elevated another notch with this import.
