A Review by Brad

COXA
Richard Bone

Rhode Island's premier electro-analyst Richard Bone released earlier this year another stellar release entitled Coxa, a mild blending of jazz and down-tempo beats, again furthering Bone's ever-expanding catalogue of experimentation into new and semi-unfamiliar territory. Inspired by the artistry of Creed Taylor, Cal Tjader and Dave Pike, Richard Bone again works within a thematic framework, producing quality chillout beats complete with subtle atmospherics and delectable ambience.
Bone's music spans many dimensions, and what brings his music to the forefront, is the imaginative and unique [way] he takes on [his] approach to soundscape development. Tracks like "Dragneta, My Love", "Dido", "Outside the Incrimination Field" and the hidden 9th ballad which I called "Nature's Voice" offer a savory piece of Bone's definitive and eclectic style of exploration, never once pausing to assimilate the latest beat-making trend, but rather advancing his own sight/sound interpretation.
