From the press release...
Experiments
‘80-‘82 is the absolute opposite of the ambient music many fans
associate with Richard Bone...it owes more to Bebe Baron (Forbidden
Planet) than Harold Budd. In fact, an original copy of the Forbidden
Planet soundtrack, signed by Bebe Baron, stood watch over the original
sessions.
The 10 abstract pieces were directly inspired by the pioneering electronic works of Morton Subotnick, Charles Dodge and Tod Dockstader. The material comes from
two rare cassette only releases, Quiz Party & Life in Video City
(there were less than 50 copies of these original cassettes ever made)
and 3 tracks, with the collective title Alternate Music for the
Hindenberg Lounge, from The American Music Compilation LP all of which
were available exclusively through Eurock Magazine between 1980-82.

These abstract recordings were inspired by the pioneering electronic works of Morton Subotnick, Charles Dodge and Tod Dockstader. Using a Mini Moog, Korg MS10 & Roland SH1 the pieces were recorded in New York on a 4 track cassette and mixed to 1/4 track reel between '80-'82. Mastered by Ashley Shepard at QCA, Inc. February 2007. Tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 & 10 were originally released on extremely limited edition cassettes and tracks 5, 8 & 9 on the
