Richard Bone's The Ghosts Of Hanton Village represents his 25th release
on the Quirkworks label. It contains 10 ambient works inspired by the
folklore surrounding Hanton Village, a mysterious commune in the
northwest hills of Rhode Island. It was settled by a group of unknown
travelers in 1790..........who vanished without a trace in 1890. Like
the stories themselves, the music ranges from dark, chilling excursions
to music filled with hope and promise.
Here's a bit more information about the mysterious HANTON VILLAGE . . .
Hanton Village was a late 1700's settlement just down the road from Richard's home. No one knows why this community was settled so far from the larger village of Smithfield, Rhode Island. Some historians think they were banished for either being witches, diseased or even runaway slaves. More mysterious yet is that the villagers vanished without a trace. Pots were still sitting on the hearths. They simply disappeared!
